Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival– Paro – Thimpu
In the morning, transfer to Airport to board the flight for Paro.
On arrival in Paro, you will be welcomed by our your accompanying guide in Paro Airport. Later drive to Thimpu.
In the Morning visit Simply Bhutan Museum (Closed on Sundays) & Folk Heritage Museums, a fascinating testimony of Bhutan’s living traditions.
Also visit National Memorial Chorten, within which there are finely, executed wall paintings and delicately fashioned statues which provide deep insight into Buddhist philosophy.
In the afternoon visit Motithang Takin Preserve also known as the Thimpu Zoo by many is a small natural preserve for the Takin Bhutan’s national animal. It was originally a mini zoo, but it was converted in a preserve later on as the Takin.
Later visit Buddha point (Kuensel Phodrang) from where you can get a good overview of the Thimphu valley. You can pay your obeisance and offer prayers to the Buddha, the largest statue in the country.

In the morning drive to Punakha, enroute visit across Dochula pass (3080m) enjoying fascinating mountain views, mani wall and prayer flags. If skies are clear, you will see the highest peaks of the Bhutan from the pass.
Later proceed to Punakha.
Later visit Punakha Dzong. It is the winter seat of Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot) and the ancient capital of Bhutan (until 1955). Located between the rivers of Pho (male) Chhu (river) and Mo (female) Chhu, Dzong is surrounded by myths and legends.
Also take an easy walk though paddy fields to visit Chimi Lhakhang the fertility temple of Lama Drukpa Kuenley popularly known as Divine Madman. This temple is visited by couples who have problem conceiving and they have been blessed miraculously with children. It is interesting to see phallus paintings of the walls of the village houses near this Lhakhang.

Later drive to Paro. The beautiful valley of Paro encapsulates within itself a rich culture, scenic beauty and hundreds of myths and legends. It is home to many of Bhutan’s oldest temples and monasteries and country’s only airport.
After check-in, visit Rinpung Dzong, meaning ‘fortress of the heap of jewels’ which has a long and fascinating history. Along the wooden galleries lining the courtyard of the Rinpung Dzong are fine wall paintings illustrating Buddhist lore.
Also visit Ta Dzong originally built as Watch Tower, it now houses National Museum of the Kingdom and boasts antique thangkha paintings, textiles, weapons & armour, household objects and a rich assortment of natural and historic artifacts.

In the morning has an excursion to Taktsang Monastery (05 hrs hike). It is one of the most famous of Bhutan’s monasteries, perched on the side of a cliff 900m above the Paro valley floor. It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery and hence it is called ‘Tiger’s Nest’.
While returning back to town visit Kyichu Lakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred shrines of the Kingdom dating back to 7th century which marks the introduction of Buddhism in Bhutan.

In the morning, transfer to Airport to board the flight for onwards journey.
